Providing teddies to give some comfort to Children when they are in distress!
Our Purpose
The Teddies for Loving Care initiative provides unique cuddly bears to Accident & Emergency departments for medical staff to give at their discretion to young children. The bears are used to calm children down, reward them for being brave or to demonstrate procedures. Often the bears distract children so nurses and doctors can get their jobs done quickly and efficiently.
The TLC teddy has become an invaluable tool for medical professionals and a real comfort for children.
Our Goal
A hospital visit can be a frightening experience for a young child, especially in an emergency situation. Teddies for Loving Care (TLC) is a way of providing much-needed comfort to children in A&E departments, helping to reduce the shock and distress of their experience. Every child that receives a teddy gets to take it home.
We donate Hospital Teddies to the Children's A&E Department & Ward at the Grange University Hospital, Llanfrechfa, Cwmbran and any other Children's support setting.
Our Supporters
TLC Monmouthshire is funded through the generous donations of Freemasons, their families and supporters of the programme. Many Freemasons also volunteer hundreds of hours each year to manage the scheme, deliver bears to hospitals and organise fundraising events which also increases the awareness of the TLC Initiative.
Our Team
TLC Monmouthshire is locally managed by members of Mon Light Blues Club on behalf of the Masonic Province of Monmouthshire, who organise the fundraisers and deliver the donations to the hospitals.
Since its inception in 2001, 3.5 million teddies have been distributed to hospitals throughout England and Wales.
